Amazing! so fresh, I love your watercolours, but it starts with your drawing. You seem to capture only what is important in the scene and accentuate it with colour. Is your drawing in pen or pencil?

    Watercolor needs …
Watercolor needs water and color. Most people use too much water but too little color. Use larger brushes that carry a lot of paint and water so that you can do more things with rich paint. That makes you paint faster with fewer layers. => Fresh and Direct => No chance to get muddy.

    Hi I used arches …
Hi I used arches 140lbs rough. Every type of paper, the drying time and color absorption ratio are different. So need to get use of each before you can control the pigment concentration, color saturation, transparency, drying time, intensity reduction. The surface roughness also affects the our brushstrokes and speed of brushwork. I like to try all kinds of paper.

    Cheers,
    Woon Lam

    There is so much …
There is so much movement and energy in your style…it feels like a pen and ink with swooshes of color and strokes that seem to be in motion. The beauty is in the freedom and lack of inhibition in your painting, just instinctive and loose. Strong and unique!

    Good fresh direct …
Good fresh direct painting - and its good to see a decent size of brush for a change! Also like the way you bash in there with strong colour right from the start on clean paper - the usual build up in water colour dosnt just wont get that sparkly and you get much more interesting darks if you bang them in on clean paper. Dont know why I am writing this - you know this stuff. Well done.

Actually if a pencil is used. Like I use 6B. It is not very visible after I put on colors. The colors can generally cover the pencil marks well. Only the white area, sometimes I will erase the pencil marks. Sometimes the pencil marks look good too.
